Bike and T Bag Check In Day

Remembered the race briefing last night, although I learned nothing that wasn't already covered in the race manual.  We had Fi and Shane join us last night and Mum and Dad have arrived this afternoon.  Almost a full house only 2 more to arrive, Jill tonight and Claire tomorrow.

To is check in day for the bike and the transition bags (which I packed last night).  Easy peesy, no queues and lots of volunteers to point you in the right direction.  When you rack your bike you have your photo taken, then a volunteer shows you where your bike is racked, and they walk you around the transition area and thru the change tent etc...

Its very warm today, and is mean't to be the same scorcer tomorrow, so if you think I have a tan now, wait until after tomorrow.  Very proud of CM who stuck to her plans and biked round Lake Taupo today, all 160k on her own.  She called in to the house on her way past to share some tips she had learn't today, from memory it was "forget anything I have told you previously and do what you can to get your ass around the course!", Nice one! That was my plan all along :)

Some more photos from today, enjoy ....

Great to see you so calm and relaxed today/nite. Only one more sleep and you're into it. I've got butterflies for you, so you needn't get any yourself :) Go well my friend, I'll see you at the finish line (as well as various cheering spots along the course).

  2. Just amazed at how relaxed you have been. It is so well organised and professionally run - what a major event for Taupo to host. You are just so calm - bring it on!!!
